Tips for Buying Knitting and Crochet Supplies

1. Choose the right yarn for what you want to make. Check the instructions, and ask someone if you are not sure.

2. Find out how much yarn you need. The pattern will tell you this, or get help from someone who knows how to figure this out.

3. Check the labels for the dye lot number and buy enough of the same dye lot to complete the article.

4. Buy extra yarn of the same dye lot, just to be sure, and keep the receipt. Most stores will allow you to return an unused ball of yarn.

5. Check the label for washing instructions, and be sure you are prepared to do what it takes to care for the finished piece.

6. Choose the right needles for the project. Check the instructions, and ask someone if you are not sure.

7. You can substitute yarns or needles, but they must be similar to what is used in the pattern. Ask an expert before making substitutions.
