Where to Buy Supplies Locally

Michaels - Inexpensive-to medium quality yarns for general use.
Poughkeepsie: Route 9, near Barnes & Noble
Kingston: Route 9W, near Hudson Valley Mall

Jo-Anns – Limited selection
Poughkeepsie: Plaza Mall, Route 9
Kingston: Route 9W, near Staples

Better quality yarn. Look for small local stores in your community
New Paltz:
Matlyn's Dream, Water Street Market. Not really a yarn shop, but has a small selection of interesting yarns, plus many of the standards. Worth a look.

Ben Franklin.  Uptown Kingston Mall, near Hannafords. A general crafts store with a surprisingly good selection of all qualities of yarn.
Poughkeepsie: Yarn, Needles and Hooks, 321 South Avenue (Academy Street exit off Route 9 South). Wonderful store with large selection of yarns and patterns, both expensive and moderately priced. Tues-Friday, 10-7; Sat 10-5; Sun 12-4. Closed Mondays. 454-1716.

Hopewell Junction: Yarn Central, 2593 Route 52 (just off Taconic). Very large selection, helpful, all price ranges. 223-8355.

Pt. Ewen: Rainbow Sheep Shoppe. Off Route 9, near BOCES. Open Saturdays from 11:00 to 5:00 and Monday evenings from 5:30 to 9:00. Call for directions (532-0152) or see

Saugerties: Amazing Threads, 1917 Route 9W. Will give 10% discount to card-carrying students of KnitwithJudy. 336-5322.

Tivoli: Fabulous Yarns. 54a Main Street. Small and expensive, but they have a good online ordering system with discounts. 757-4322.
